I also love joining in and picking a word that will mean something to me in the 12 months to follow. I have been giving a lot of thought to what my word for 2010 should be. My word for 2009 was LIVE and it served well to remind me to stop and live in the moment...to stop and enjoy the little things and not rush through life in a whirl. I look back on 2009 and realized it made quite the difference in how I did things, even those mudane daily things...I feel as though I did live 2009 and am looking foward to 2010. Lots of things happened in 2009, some good, some bad and some very sad, but through it all I kept my word close to my heart and remembered.

I have narrowed the search down to a few words for 2010...one being BREATHE. Sometimes I still feel like I am going through life holding my breath so to speak...I need to relax and remember to breathe it in.

Another word that might work is EMBRACE...I like the way it kind of goes along with live, reminding me to embrace not only the fun things that come along but the everyday...

And my last choice was BRAVE...life sometimes gets difficult and I would like to keep in my heart that I am brave and I can get through anything that life throws at me. All things happen for a reason (even when we can't wrap our minds around whatever it might be) and I need to work on facing things head on. Not letting things or situations get the best of me.

After much thought and deliberation I have decided the word for me this coming year will be BREATHE...I feel like this word wraps all three of my choices into one word. I am committed to making 2010 the best, most amazing year yet, I will breathe it all in, the good, the bad, all of it. I will stop and breathe and enjoy.

Have you picked your word yet??? Let me know if you have and what your word is!

more shares...

I wanted to share two blogs that I read every day or at least check to see if they have updated.
These are two of the most amazing women. I absolutely adore their blogs and the stories or inspiration they share. First, Melody Ross. I think she is absolutely an angel walking this earth. The things she writes on her blog are such a gift to whoever is reading it and it definitely will make you stop and think...I have such a better outlook about things partly because of reading her stories. It truly is a blessing to be able to look at things from a positive point of view especially when some of the things happening seem to be negatives. You must read her blog if you haven't yet. She is doing a miracle a day right now and reading it has made me laugh, cry and grab my family and tell them how much I love them. So go now....
Second, I came across Linsay's blog purely by accident. One of those days when I was just clicking from one blog to the next seeing where it took me. (this was during my summer of unemployment) I came across Lindsay's blog and just instantly knew that finding her was the blessing of the day. She is an amazing photographer, but also finds such soulful inspiration and shares the wisdom.
I just love the way technology lets us find and meet people we might never had had the chance to cross paths with. I find it truly is a blessing and these women inspire me to be a better person and live life happily and grateful. So today this is my miracle, having these two blogs to read and be inspired by.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas Eve and the happiest Christmas ever.

on my list...

I wanted to share some things I have found or refound lately and have on my list of must haves!
First I want to share the most happy find. We were all sad when the Kokoyo adhesive went off the market, and I was so worried I would never find another adhesive I loved as much that I stocked up and am hoarding it at home, lol. Well I can lay my kokoyo to rest as I have found a new adhesive to love...and it is just as good if not better. It is made by Scotch and is called the dot roller. You have to try it if you were a kokoyo girl. I think it will be love for you too, lol.

By the way we do carry it at the store and should be back in stock next week.
Next, I was watching Teresa Collins and Heidi Swapp do their first live web broadcast last night and was reminded about decorative packing tape. Teresa had used some black and clear damask packing tape on her project and it just made it so cute. This is not going to be forgotten again and I have now penciled it in on my to get list.

December???

I cannot believe it's December, this year just flew by. I guess what they say is true the older you get the faster time seems to pass. I have a few projects that I am working on right now along with the normal holiday stuff and working and being a wife and a mom, I think we all know that is why time seems to be passing at a faster pace, because we actually have less of it then we did without all of those responsibilities, lol. I wouldn't trade it for the world though because all in all I feel very blessed. There will always be mountains to climb and hurdles to jump, but I am here and have decided to embrace it all and do the best I can.

One of the projects I am starting to think about is my 2010 word. I have really liked having a word to focus on and remember when I need that little nudge. I haven't picked one yet but have narrowed it down to about ten. Who else is doing this for 2010, have you already figured out your word???

I am also working on finishing up Christmas projects, I have decided that this year most of the gifts are going to be handmade. With the economy the way it is, I just felt like this would be a great way to accomplish the Christmas gift lists. Let's hope that the people receiving them will appreciate the sentiment.
We have also put our house up for sale, we are hoping to be able to move closer to work and Bre's school. Which by the way she is absolutely loving, lol. I am very relieved that it went that way with her instead of the other. The Villages High School is amazing and offers so many opportunities for her and it makes life so much easier that she actually likes going to school!
I guess maybe you can understand why blogging has taken a back seat as of late, hopefully 2010 will reveal itself to be a bit of a calmer year...we will see!

Thankful...

So thankful for these kiddos! We spent Thanksgiving day with Kenny's side of the family and I was lucky enough to shoot this picture of Bre and her cousins. I think this is one of my favorite of them ever! I love these kids so much and am so thankful for each one of them. They are all good kids and I am very proud of them.
From Kenny's parents house we went to my sister and brother in laws to share the rest of Thanksgiving with my side of the family. Had a great time there as well...love that we got to spend time with both sides of the family...something to be very thankful for.
Highlights from the Holiday weekend.
1. Great time with family.
2. Yummy food that we only get to eat once or twice a year.
3. My mom and I decided to brave black Friday and see what deals we could find.
4. Found one very important deal for some one's Christmas...woo hoo.
5. Took Bob's Porsche for a spin...first time ever driving a Porsche and it was a lot more fun than I thought it would be!
6. Got to spend time with my Mom and sister.
7. Didn't have to work today for the first time in 12 years!!!
8. Looking forward to a nice lazy day at home tomorrow.
9. Christmas tree goes up this weekend.
10. Started my Christmas shopping. I had plans on trying to be done by December 1, however that is not going to happen. I am happy with what I have accomplished though and should be done at least two weeks prior to the day, so all in all, pretty happy with that. I hope to get my Christmas cards mailed out by the weekend...lets just say I have great intentions but making it to the post office seems to be a near impossible feat for me, wish me luck!

Hope all of my blog friends enjoyed their Thanksgiving and found lots to be thankful for.

A wow weekend...

Where do I start? Inspiration filled not just creatively but emotionally...not only does Heidi teach some fabulous classes but the messages she shares just blew me away. Such food for the soul...the energy journal was the second class I got to sit in on and it was just what I needed to hear. I am going to use this little journal daily and keep it close to my heart so I do not forget what I learned. The House of 3 Heart Shadow box was so fun, I love that I can hang it in my home and look at it daily. It involved alcohol ink, distress ink, distress stickles, distress embossing powder...total heaven! I cannot wait for Heidi to come back and spend some more time! I still am processing the weekend and loving what this gave to not only me but everyone that came and experienced what a truly amazing teacher and person Heidi is.

Excited...

Four days and counting...Heidi Swapp will be at She Scrapbooks for a fun-filled weekend of classes!!! Can't wait!!! I think I am even going to get to take a couple of her classes myself!!! Lovin that...I don't know which one I am more excited over the House of 3 heart box or the Energy Journal. I am thrilled about both. I have been wanting to do the Energy Journal since the first time I read about it online, I have high hopes of it helping me harness my personal energy and focus better, from the reviews I have heard just taking the class has made a difference in the way you look at things. Then there is that adorable heat shadow box. I think I will get a couple extra and some family members will be getting these little beauties as Christmas gifts this year. And if all this is not enough excitement there is next week...

NEW MOON is coming out...we have been counting down the days since seeing Twilight and it is finally almost here. We have plans to go at least three times over the weekend!!! Friday the 20th and then on to Saturday and Sunday!

She Scrapbooks is doing great...love going to work! Bre is doing fantastic at The Villages High School! We have the house up for sale so we can move a little closer to work and school.

So all in all we are pretty good. I will be posting pictures from the coming weekends asap. Hopefully I will be posting a little more frequently...can't believe Thanksgiving is right around the corner! So proud of her for choosing this.

Other than that, life seems to be ticking by pretty fast right now. I can't believe we are getting into the holiday months. Halloween, Thanksgiving and ugh, Christmas are right around the corner. I am so hoping that I will be able to find a little Christmas love this year. Working in retail for the last 12 years has just sucked it out of me. We will see. Keeping fingers crossed.

Life is exciting right now and I absolutely love it.

words...

I found this on Lindsay's blog (love her blog by the way) and had to share it with you. I think these are some very powerful words and definitely gives something to think about.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others"

~Marianne Williamson

busy, busy...

Time seems to be flying by at an accelerated rate...
-we going into our fourth week of school, hard to believe a month has already gone by.
-homecoming is in 2 weeks, and Bre is going with some of her friends.
-walls torn down in store, wall repaired in store, walls being primed and painted, floor being painted this week.
-deliveries already coming in to the store
-scheduling move in dates of fixtures
-read three books
-haven't taken nearly enough pictures
-shopping with Stephanie to get odds and ends we need for the store
-lunch everyday with Stephanie this last week, discussing ideas and things to accomplish for the store.
-continuing with plans for the big surprise in November. Teachers from past Creative Escapes were given a $15.oo lamp to alter for an auction that would benefit the Leukemia Society. 100% going to the charity. Tim Holtz and Heidi each decorated one and theirs was auctioned off live last night at their closing dinner. Heidi's went for an amazing $8200 and Tim's went for...sit down...$29,000!!! Yes you read that right twenty-nine thousand dollars!!! Still gives me goose-bumps just thinking about it. I read that this totally overwhelmed Tim with emotion, I can only imagine. This was the woman who won the bid. It looks like Heidi was very touched as well!!! I found this picture online to share!
I loved my experience at CE last year and only hope that I get to attend next year.

WOW...

It's almost here...I am so excited...I still can't believe it...a dream come true...I am having a hard time waiting...but the wait is almost over...pictures to come this week!!!

Monday...

Another new week brought some changes to our house...

First, Bre started high school today. I am happy to report that after a little bit of a bumpy start she has decided that it was not as bad as she was thinking it was going to be.
I think her favorite part is the fact that she has more freedom then she ever imagined. She called me at lunch from her cell phone, happy and visiting with a new found friend.
I am still in shock that my baby girl is actually in high school. It seems like just yesterday I was walking her to her kindergarten class and she didn't want to let go of me. Yes there were tears on both of our parts. Today wasn't much different except she hopped out of the car so quick I couldn't remember if I got to say I love you. I know she is going to be just fine. She is organizing her book bag as I am writing this. This is one of her nightly rituals, she likes to be prepared and organized.
We also now have to get up at 6:00am. I know for some of you this is normal, but not for us. Last year she didn't have to be at school until 9:30 which was also the same time I had to be at work. So we usually got up around 8:00 and took our time getting ready. Now we have to be out the door by 6:45 to get to school on time. (I will be glad when I get to go back to work and get myself back in a routine as well) Hope everyone is having a good week and if you still have this last week of summer vacation...enjoy.
Nita, if you can sleep in, don't make yourself get up, that will come soon enough next week. I will talk to Syd and Bo soon to tell them good luck with the new school year. Love those girlies.
I would also like to thank Stephanie and Melle for being such great friends and helping Bre and I find our way in this new high school adventure.
Oh and Kristy, please tell Mason I hope he loves Kindergarten and makes lots of new friends.

new layouts...

Finally, new scrapbooking layouts. During the retreat I was actually able to get three done, totally happy about this. I haven't had the time to scrapbook lately and it felt nice to get back into the swing of things. I think the inspiration came from attending CHA and having a few new sheets of Bo Bunny to work with. I absolutely love this new line. Can't wait to get the store opened and get this product in. I think I will be getting at least two sheets of all of it. Love it. I was also able to scrapbook pictures of Bre visiting the Hot Topic store while we where on spring break, WE love getting to go to this store as we do not have one in Ocala. So much Twilight goodness, ahh. Anyway hope you enjoy.

whirl wind...

Wow, last week was busy, busy!!! I started off the week driving Bre to my sister's house so she could visit with her Aunt and Grammy while I was at CHA. Bre said she had a fabulous time, I think the funnest part for her was when she got to drive all around Aunt Mindy's three acres of property. Now she is on a daily countdown until she will be able to get her permit. I am so not ready for that. But I did want to send a huge THANK YOU to my sister and mom for taking such good care of Bre and Roxie. Just wish I could have spent more time with y'all.
I left my sisters Monday morning and headed to Orlando for the CHA summer show. Stephanie and Nita drove from Ocala and we got there about the same time. Checked into our hotel and headed to the convention center to get our badges. Then we went to Bubba Gumps for dinner (yummy), next stop was the Prime Outlet mall. Love that place and will definitely be going back.
CHA started bright and early Tuesday morning, as we are walking in to head to the first stop we walked by Making Memories and I guess I let out some kind of squeal, because they were releasing the first glimpses of the PINK slice. Well, I already had the blue/greenish one, but now it is PINK, we were given PINK slice aprons to where and hopefully be spotted and our picture taken so we MIGHT have a chance to win one of the new PINK slices!!!! Later that day, guess what happened, after much more squealing and hugging the poor kid who spotted us, Steph and I got our pictures taken and added to the NON winner wall. So we went about our business where we were much involved in ordering when Nita calls my cell phone, I wouldn't shut up long enough for her to tell me my picture had been added to the winner wall, not sure what this meant so we headed to Making Memories where, yes in deed, I find out I WON A PINK SLICE!!!!
And yes, there was much more squealing and hugging!!!!
That is not the end of the story, Nita and Kristy were also spotted wearing their aprons and they also ended up on THE winner wall. Stephanie did not win a pink slice, but she did win a fabulous prize basket from Cruise and Crop. Hopefully there will be some more talk about this in the future of SHE SCRAPBOOKS. We finished up the show Thursday afternoon, and headed home. Friday morning I headed out to the Homewood Suites for the Scrapbook Retreat. I had 32 women coming and had to have it set up by 3:00 pm. Thanks to Steph and Bre we got it done with about an hour to kill and started a three day long event filled with giggling, visiting, eating, three projects and and lots of fun. Thank you to all attended and have made doing retreats such a fabulous experience for me. I look forward to doing many more and can't wait for the next one.
Now we are on to the next week and I have realized we only have three weeks before school starts, four weeks before we take possession of the building for SHE SCRAPBOOKS, and about two months before we have our grand opening. If you would like to see some pictures from CHA and see some of the companies we have ordered stop by the SHE blog. We have the first CHA post up.
Life is good, Life is busy, Life is sometimes crazy but I wouldn't change where I am today for anything in the world.

getting ready...

Monday is CHA-summer and we are attending the show for the first time as She Scrapbooks!!! Thanks Mindy for taking care of my girl so I can focus on the business at hand. I am sure Bre will have lots of fun with her extended family. She has been looking forward to this for quite some time.
We return from CHA on Thursday and Friday morning I will be headed back out for my scrapbooking retreat. Thanks to my girl, all the kits have been kitted and everything is packed and ready to go. I think the girls are going to love the projects this time, I am really excited to reveal them Friday night.
So looks like a very busy week ahead, but the really good kind of busy. Hope everyone else has a great week and Melle can't wait to see your Tim Holtz class pictures.

Late Birthday...

Yesterday was my girls 14th Birthday. I cannot believe how the time seems to be slipping away one year at a time. It seems to be speeding up now and the years are getting shorter. But here we are. We had a quite little day at home with one of her friends along with Nita and the kids. Kenny grilled wings (ahh), they through a little football, we had cake and ice cream, then she finished off the day attending her youth group meeting. It was such a nice day and I am so very proud of the young woman she is growing into. August 8 we will have her "friend" party. We just couldn't squeeze that in to all the activities this week. I wanted to share a few pictures from the day and the new story board, which I learned how to do in Jessica's class last week. The story board template came from the House of 3.

learning...

Here is the before and the after, I love how I was able to make a vintage wash look. I am absolutely loving the photoshop class I am taking over at Jessica Sprague's. I have definitely reinforced and gained some knowledge. I learned how to adjust the color a new way and absolutely love how easy it it and the effect that I can get. I am hoping to find a class to take me to the next level, love the online classes as I can arrange it around my schedule instead of the other way around. It also helps to have videos that I can go back to and refresh my mind with the new techniques. Who else has taken the class? I will be signing up for more from Jessica, I think she is a fabulous teacher.

more blog fun...

How would you like to win some Hero Arts goodness?
